Some nations El Salvador, Honduras, and Costa Rica have banned it to protect the ecological habitat (rain forest) which is at least a logical environmental reason.
Mexico doesn't really change the desert habitat with open pit mining.
Claudia also promised the continuation of ALMOs Yucatn Train which does destroy the ecological rain forest habitat of the Yucatn in the south, but it's good for his homies in tourism and commerce.
Again these things weren't discussed because ALMO didn't have much time left and could force HIS project and STINEWALL opposition projects.
This is a lot harder to do as a new president.
