RE:Chaff!

RE:Chaff!I for one appreciate your candor, split.  It's not easy to admit that maybe we were wrong, but it's an important step in the process.  We can all learn things though... although I am probably the slowest to learn stuff like this.  We tend to get a confirmation bias where we convince ourselves that a certain outcome or artifact is reality, when it's really only our perception of reality.  I think the first indicator for us was when they announced a successful purification of magnesium and the stock actually dropped. Orders did not come pouring in and they simply said they were going to continue tweaking. The market showed them no interest. That was a logical time to get out. We always find out the reasons for failure after the fact but sometimes they are shrouded in mystery while things are ongoing as we stick to our confirmation bias and hopefulness.  I was following a company for years that back then had gotten a patent on some sort of protective gear in addition to selling to the government contracts for a wide variety of products. The market cap was so low that if this protective gear which was supposedly revolutionary ever took off it would have been an easy 10 bagger. But after they received the patent and nothing happened that should have been a wake-up call for me. People did not line up at the doors to get this new gear despite many police actions and wars around the world where it would have been applicable.  Once again my own confirmation bias and my hopefulness out weighed what was becoming a more and more obvious reality. Beyond not getting any contracts for the protective gear, they ceased getting any contracts for anything.  They are now gone to the best of my knowledge.  Live and learn, or at least live.
