I have prefs in ENB as well as some of the splits plus others.

Low risk income plus capital gains as interest rates fall.

In terms of LFE going forward, lower interest rates are not good news for insurance companies so I wouldn't count on LFE paying out anytime soon.

I played TRP.pr.h, EMA.pr.b  TA.pr.e and a few others... always was one coming to exdivvy date before the other, so cycled the money to get a distribution almost every month. I bought in about a month ahead of ex divvy date, and nearly  always made capital gains on top of the distributions. A few times the Preferreds got taken out at my set ask price, which meant i got more in capital gains than i would have received in distributions .
Not sure that playing the  splitfund commons is safer, but definitely the liquidity is higher  so easier to sell a big position.
