large flakes refer to +32 mesh, +50 mesh, +80 mesh, and +100 mesh flake graphite.

If one caters to the battery market larger flake is the goal...
BUT.... much of the deposit is lost due to smaller faction size.
What happens if one millied all sizes into fine ?
= More impurities liberate. Majority of GEM's graphite grades 98 % Cgr
Mere 1.5 % or so away from - nuclear shielding grading. Second thought ? If carbon can make diamonds using heat and presure ( compression presses )
