HA! 40 years ago is exactly 1984.....
In 1981 the RE market crashed, values were cut in HALF in the town were I lived. By 1984 mortgage interest rates were still double digits after peaking to 16% in 1982....my tenants quit paying the rent because unemployment reached 12%....eventually I lost the house and the rental property!
