Silicon metal is not mined, its manufactured using  polluting and expensive processes.
Until HPQ QRR.

Quartz could  maybe mined on every continents .
From Wikipedia : Quartz is the second most abundant mineral in Earth's continental crust.
Instead of wondering you should educate yourself.
