RE:RE:RE:RE:Does Quebec love mining?MaterialsMan,

I believe all 'chips', EVs specific battery cells and vehicles imported from China are going to be subjected to tariff on August 1, 2024, with
duties of 25% due to start in 2026 on the $10.9 billion non-vehicle lithium-ion battery category; a category which has grown quickly and is now the third-largest U.S. import category from China after smartphones and personal computers."

All those battery cells manufacturing facilities which you rightly refer to as being slated to be built within North America and Europe, indeed all around the world, absolutely need the critical elements comprised battery materials; the overwhelming majority of which are process manufactured within China and/or by and on behalf of Chinese foreign entities of concern, FEOCs.

We note and certainly agree that the multitudes of various critical elements mines (e.g. graphite mines) required to satiate the expected demand by the North American based or "friendlies" countries based battery materials components manufacturers, their respective battery cells manufacturing customers and ultimately the demand by U.S. situated automakers simply do not exist and certainly wont't exist within the next two years.
The current U.S. Government administration most senior representatives are going to find out exactly how the consequences of the current U.S. undertaken escalation in it's far too aggressive trade war (it's always been extremely much more than that) against China can and will bite the U.S. economy in the assets sooner than expected.
The global knock-on effects are going to be epic.
