Its USSF&I segment includes the specialty finance services provided by its subsidiaries, Credigy Ltd. and Advanced Bank of Asia Limited.

I'm surprised one of the other banks didn't move prior

Canadian Western Bank is a right-sized acquisition for National. It's not too big to affect the mother ship adversely in any way. It also provides them with new domestic exposure. Be thankful they didn't go after Laurentian. The other banks may have considered it too small to make a difference to their bottom lines, or were too caught-up in the highly profitable duffel bag deposit business.
