But, I agree, in a perfect world they could produce in the 50 thousand tonne range. That is a shxxload of copper!
The Japanese Govt is working with industry to secure long term sources of critical resources in friendly jurisdicitions. That is why they are willing to spend over short term prices for long term benefit. As long as the project shows forward progress, they are in for the duration.
