Artesian waterArtesian water is groundwater which is under natural pressure. The pressure can come directly from gravity or indirectly from gravity through the pressure of the overlying rock and sediment. Hole 24-07 was drilled down in a valley just above Camp creek. It encountered so much artesian water flow the hole had to be abandoned. The most likely cause was gravity pulling rainwater down through porous rock (they had a very wet spring). Yes, water flows downhill. Wether it is in the rock or on the rock water flows downhill.
They will continue the hole in the fall when the water flow subsides. It is not an issue. Where ever you sink a mine hydrology is always a concern. Hydrology in hills and mountains is always manageable.
