Gran Tierra Energy Inc. is an independent international energy company. The Company is focused on international oil and natural gas exploration and production with assets in Colombia and Ecuador. The Company has interests in approximately 22 blocks in Colombia, three blocks in Ecuador, and are the operator of 24 of these blocks. Its assets in Colombia represent approximately 97% of its production with oil reserves and production located in the Middle Magdalena Valley (MMV) and Putumayo Basin. In MMV, the Company’s field is the Acordionero field, where it produces approximately 17-degree American Petroleum Institute (API) oil, which represents 52% of total company production. The Putumayo production is approximately 27-degree API for Chaza Block and 18-degree API for Suoriente Block, representing 25% and 13% respectively, of total company production.

downwithdotcom1, I do understand the price it was about 10-years ago.  Yes, they did (the board approved) the massive debt to the point we are with the management still in place.  

This is the management 
that West Face Capital (largest shareholder then) activist fund took control and allowed a new CEO (Gary Guidry) and group of board members to take the reins 9-years ago.

With oil prices from then to now being favorable or less, they have never turned to profit. Massive investment in exploration, local govrnments and payofs shares to themselves. I bet 
West Face Capital has made alot of money on their investments as almost on the inside, you know what I mean. I'm sure!

The management team, I don't like them. I'm sure the past years they have enriched themselves.  They keep getting voted in, thanks to  West Face Capital if they are still the largest shareholders.

I believed in their story then and lost. I have a small position now and believe this may with any luck turn to profit if the the oil prices remain favorable.
