For example, I use to pay over $70 for commissions on transactions below $5K. $25 fixed rate for $2,000 and below and then some pennies per share depending on the price of the stock. Now you can buy $50,000 for a flat rate of $10 and trading is much simpler. Being an accredited investor to participate in PPs meant that you had to have a net worth over $1 million. Today anything may go but discount brokers have access only to select PPs.
Re: my "negative spin it not the only way to look at things". I am not sure that explaining the implications and the mechanics of what has occured is a "negative spin". But if you wish to look at it that way, please note that I posted my thoughts after several posters opined what a great signal and development that was. I would say that my post pointed out that there are other ways to look at things and is therefore not intended to be the "only way to look at things".
And I put in an effort to explain my views for the purpose of being fair and transparent.I recognize that for many it is not their cup of tea.
