Na-Cho Nyäk Dun - "Shut down all mining activity"

Na-Cho Nyäk Dun - "Shut down all mining activity"

Yukon First Nation is calling for a "urgent" halt to all mining activities on their land in the wake of a slide at the Eagle gold mine near Mayo.

Saw this coming, just the tip of the problems and increased oversight moving forward.   It shouldn't come as shock that both private and public stakeholders are going to be queried for what like years?

Right now the way I see it all mines (operational and exploration) are under what may well end up as a a stop work order.  While I do understand that the region is not under how does one phrase this "complete jurisdiction" by First Nations they certainly do have enough "clout" to raise rightous hell to damage on their traditional grounds.  Rightfully so.  imo  Obviously HL Keno operations fall into their territory and yet I have not seen one news release on this from HL.  It's like the entire mining community is waiting for VG "water results".   That is only part of the story if anyone thinks this is "just a cleanup act" and lets repair this is in for a imo surprise.  Right now I would bet the VG lawyers are preparing for what could be years of litigation by groups that are yet to be revealed.

I will not put my ususal "best" and "it's only money" here except to say firstly I hope the "water results" come back clean.
