I agree. The $2.5 bill and $31K a tonne make this project uneconomical in my opinion. In my opinion, shareholders have been mislead to this point in time, with $14K a tonne, and vague statements in the media about the cost of a plant being at least 30% more.
In my opinion, two things have to happen to salvage this project: (i) A strategic partner, and replacing the CEO with a nominee from the strategic partner, and (ii) Government grant of at least $500 million.
Otherwise, who in the world would put up $2.5 billion based on a price of $31K per tonne?
