I'm not a lawyer, but my expectation is that Gary and the other trustees will be sweating their fiduciary obligations to unitholders.
A prudent trustee would be looking to replace the manager. Dunno if this is practical for this asset class, but the board will have to check that box.
IMHO, the trustee has massive leverage over Behzad and the manager and NEEDS to CYA by extracting significant value. Reduced fees to reflect that the key guy is gone? Yep. Deferred comp gone? Yep. All positive for the trust over the long term.
