He is a white guy, earily similar to Trump Junior, son of Trump so I can understand why Trump may have been inclined to choose him.
JD Vance history is one of rags to riches story, is venture capitalist and, caters most to strong Republican ideas, tough on China, no immigration, no abortion, fossil fuels, stolen election, etc...
TRUMP needed someone to compliment him. Instead he chose someone who is almost identical to him, with same values and same way of thinking and really caters to the base of Republicans.
Problem is that he will not cater much to blacks or immigrants or independent voters, which is what TRUMPS needs to win.
I had seen an episode that said the best choice was Rubio from Florida as he would carry all the spanish and immigrants, also blacks.
Looks like TRUMP does not want to win, so bowing out differently. Probably win and kids gave him an earful, that it is too dangerous and they do not want to live like that.
He also is changing his speech to one of unity, which coming from him is not him, he is doing it due to fear.
Once you change from who you are, you lose all credibility. JFK did not change, he paid a price, but he stayed firm. So did that fellow with "I have a dream, a dream in which all men are created equal".
Thought I would share what I thought.
Poor choice for TRUMP.
