Potential Farm-Out Wrap Up In A "Few" Months...
Chief executive says farm-out deal may wrap up in a ‘few’ months, but new partner will only influence targets of later wells in upcoming four-probe programme
Galp Energy will not be pushed around by a new partner to change the target of the first well on its vital exploration and appraisal campaign at the huge Mopane light oil and associated gas discovery offshore Namibia.
The Lisbon-based company is set to fire-up the four-well programme in late 2024 to better understand the scale of Mopane, its geological structure and the nature of three reservoirs it has so far found in Petroleum Exploration Licence 83.
Galp is currently entertaining offers from supermajors and others keen to secure a major slice of the company’s 80% stake in a tantalising Orange basin discovery that could house in-place resources of at least 10 billion barrels of oil equivalent.
