CRIMINAL CHARGES PROCEEDING AGAINST MENI MORIM OF LIFEIST Yesterday morning in the Alberta Court of Justice, criminal charges of Perjury, Fraud, and Obstruction of Justice were sworn by way of Private Information against Meni Morim, the CEO of
Lifeist Wellness Inc. alleging that over the course of 4 years Mr. Morim:
- Perjured a sworn affidavit, by intentionally omitting more than 300 pages of evidence directly relating to a falsified Statement of Claim against Calgary-based Choklat Inc. and Brad Churchill.
- Committed Fraud by deceiving the public and shareholders of Lifeist by in August of 2020, writing down $250,000 more than what Lifeist actually paid for Choklat.
- Committed Fraud by leading investors and the general public to believe that his company's investment in Choklat was worth nothing while at the same time knowing since February of 2022 that the value of their investment had actually appreciated by more than $500,000 as proven by a detailed appraisal conducted by MNP which was approved by the Court, and accepted in writing by Lifeist as an informed party. Mr. Morim has been in possession of that appraisal since February of 2022.
- Committed Obstruction of Justice when he intentionally misled and in an ongoing fashion continues to mislead the Court to believe there was substance to the allegations in his company's Statement of Claim while, for the entire time of their action against Choklat, Mr Morim was fully informed and in possession of hundreds of pages of information that nullifies all of his company's allegations.
A detailed evidence package containing more than 400 pages of documentation supporting the charges has been compiled, indexed and provided to the Alberta Crown Prosecutor's Office, who will now spend the next 4 weeks reviewing them.
Due to the very serious nature of the charges sworn a Process Hearing will be held behind closed doors in early September after the Crown has had a chance to review the substantial amount of evidence provided. The outcome will either be that the charges will be stayed, or a warrant will be issued for Mr. Morim's arrest.
The information provided to the Crown exceeds "reasonable doubt" in these matters to the point of absolute certainty.
The public deserves to know the truth, and Mr. Morim needs to be held accountable for his actions in this matter.
