RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Air Canada Number 1 - For percent of float short I guess you look to the definition of a short sale ie a sale!  Statistical Data for a short sale can be gathered and used in a number of ways.  IROC reports a 2-week period closing.  As I recall the TMX for the most part is live so day to day.  Short volume data is based on the number of shares sold short in a given time usually presented as a ratio or a percentage.  It does not take into account the number of trades made to close the short position.  So I guess the answer is yes as I understand it a short sale could actually account for a much greater percentage of volume than you are seeing reported.  That said, remember all these reports have parameters including but not limited to time.
