RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:"Bad Actors" in the Yukon are now on the loose.you'd have to have watched Dumb and Dumber movie to understand that definition of an unlikely event (ie - 1 in a million...of which Jim Carrey says, "so you mean there's a chance".)
Seriously, i have no idea what an "unlikely event really means". I mean give me some statistics to help understand that...and how does it interact with if Victoria managemnet doing things outside standard procedures? If in fact Victoria was following ALL guidelines in operating the mine then i suppose whoever engineered this has some liability? or Yukon Gov't regulators has some liability?
Regardless, in full disclaimer, i have ZERO short or long position in Victoria...I'm here only as a spectator as a result of collatoral damage to WRN share price!
Selfishly, i'm hoping this was mostly related to drunks running the camp, not following procedures, taking on too much risk and NOT necessarily anything to do with design of the mine or the technology used. I do think for WRN, in the long run, this will actually HELP because regulators, First Nations, etc are going to look for the big boys to develop districts within Yukon rather than all these one off smaller miners. I also believe perhaps Casino has geography more favorable than Eagle??? and that Rio/MM are/have reviewed our FS and design and will tweak as they feel necessary to mitigate any risk (at a much higher level than Victoria did).
Last, but certainly not least....a $1B cleanup for Rio would be like 60 days of dividend paid....whereas that would put probably every single miner into bankruptcy operating in Yukon today. That cannot be understated...especially looking at Ranj speech.
