I disagree. Consolidation or Reverse Split is generally a bad move for the shareholder. It's more of a slight of hand attempt by management to make things look better than they are. At the end of the day the shareholder ends up owning a very watered down stock at a higher price while the holding value is lower.
BS move in my experience
