'West Red Lake Gold plans to restart Canada gold mine' With a goal to restart the high-grade Madsen Gold Mine in Ontario by the second half of 2025, West Red Lake Gold (WRLG.v WRLGF) has announced key infrastructure and development projects for the Madsen Mine, including a pre-feasibility study detailing the restart plan in early 2025.
Funded by recent financings, including CAN$10 million in flow-through funding, WRLG is set to commence critical path projects in the coming weeks.
Key projects include:
- Connection Drift: Creating a 1200 m haulage way to connect the East and West portals/declines for improved material hauling, ventilation, and safety.
- Primary Crusher: Installing a permanent primary crusher for the Madsen mill, replacing the temporary leased crusher.
- Test Mining: Initiating a test mining program to evaluate longhole stoping and cut-and-fill mining methods.
- Bulk Sample: Analyzing samples from test mining to determine the representative grade of a bulk sample.
- Mine Camp: Setting up a camp to house 100 workers.
- Mine Dry: Installing and staffing a facility for workers to change, shower, and manage laundry.
- Evaporators: Installing two evaporator fans to manage 2000 m³ of water daily, enhancing water management capacity.
- Shaft Rehabilitation: Continuing dewatering and rehabilitating the existing shaft, now certified for personnel movement and inspection.
Located in Ontario's Red Lake District, an area known for gold mining due to its history of mining, political stability, and regulatory environment, the Madsen Gold Mine boasts an NI 43-101 indicated resource of 1.65M oz of gold grading 7.4 g/t Gold, an inferred resource of 0.37Moz of gold grading 6.3g/t.
Having continually released high-grade results, including the latest intersection of 16.69g/t Au over 8m, 6.17 g/t Au over 17.83m and 7.48g/t Au over 12m, WRLG's Madsen Mine represents a substantial opportunity.
