RE:Understanding the ENB share price waveObscure...thanks for yet another great post!!
I think your tutoring has resulted in a change in the way people handle their decisions regarding ENS since the premium has fallen from the usual teens to a discount. This has had an impact on Middlefield. Runour has it that they have spoken to a long time associate in Sicily and there is now a bounty on your head!!...lol.
Your comment about people not paying attention when there is a price drop in the underlying stock(s) is a common thread for many split share stocks. There a number of other split share stocks that I follow that have gone from a discount to a premium with price drops in the underlying stocks. I guess the other rationale for this is that people are enamored with the yield and are reluctant to sell their holdings.
As I mentioned in earlier posts, my view on all of this is to think of split share stocks as trading vehicles as opposed to long term holds seeking the dividends. In this vein, my approach is to buy at discounts to NAV or close to NAV and then get out when the pemium rises above 10%. Sometimes this results in a loss but most of the time it yields a decent short term return.
