RE:RE:RE:Physical mine site inspection report signed off Nov 2023 asWell Husky, I'm no peizo sensor expert but I'd like to think that there is a lot more than one piezo sensor on the entire HLF.  And if one going off line was so important then I'm pretty sure  there would need to be a way for it to be readily replaced or if not, a dual or a triple back-up piezo sensors installed at each point (required by EMR rules / legislation as part of the HLP build requirements).  So unless that failed piezo sensor was the very last sensor at the toe of HLF (where water could pool) one would think other nearby and working sensors all the way down the pad would show if there was a water issue.

Regarding the undisclosed qualified source on site the day of the incident that reported an internal rock collapse, did the internal rock collapse cause the larger slide or did the rock collapse occur as a result of the slide?  Perception is not always reality.  Regardless, I have little doubt the 3rd party independent investigators will get to the bottom of the root cause of the slide.

What I still find interesting is that if VG management actually believed at all that this event was the result of gross negligence on their part, why have company insiders not sold a single share?  And why is their largest shareholder GMT Capital still holding 5.2 million VG shares?  If they were certain this was all VGs fault and a done deal, I'm sure VG management, the BoD, and even GMT Capital would have dumped every single share for whatever they could get and abandoned ship within a few days of the slide.  Yet here they are, "heads down and tails up" spending millions to try to mitigate the environmental  impacts and get control of the situation all while getting constantly criticized for not doing enough.

We can all sit around and pontificate on what we think happened and why but at the end of the day, there's really only one opinion that's going to matter most and that's the opinion of the 3rd party independent investigators and their detailed findings in their upcoming report.  I beleive VG Management reported the investigation was to commence on Aug 5th so it should already be underway.

In my opinion.
