An interesting topic
An interesting topicGitanyow Hereditary Chiefs questioned the project being "net zero ready" put forth by Ksi Lisims LNG. Net zero encompasses upstream natural gas development, pipeline and hydro electric development emissions.
It's not just a question of powering the LNG facility by electricity, but involves the whole process. Ideally carbon capture of the natural gas to be used by the LNG facility would be nice if feasible.
Natural gas and effects therefrom, are beyond a wind farm's scope. Using wind may help with net zero vs hydro. At best use hydro power as backup to wind. BC Hydro would still have to build a 100km transmission line.
And this, if they have available capacity on the current transmission line. Cedar LNG will take a share as will new industries. BC Hydro will have to prioritize who will get electrical service or not, until the new line is built. Which could mean a 6-8 year wait.
Somewhere in all of this, just seems that offshore wind can play a role in the region.
