According to Modor Intelligence, in 2023 the global scandium market size was US$593.80 million, which is projected to grow to US$1.344 billion in 2029. Alloys accounted for the largest share (35%) in the product type segment in the global scandium market in 2023 due to its high usage in the major end-use industries and its excellent strength. There is growing demand for aluminium scandium alloys in the aerospace and defence industries. The Boeing Commercial Outlook 2023-2042 reports that in China about 8,560 new deliveries will be made by 2042, followed by 9,250 deliveries in North America, 3,025 in the Middle East, and 1,205 across Africa. Boeing expects 42,595 global deliveries by 2042, providing an opportunity for increasing demand for aluminium scandium alloys for aircraft manufacturing in the upcoming years. Further, in 2023 AIRBUS delivered 735 aircraft, with an order backlog of 8,598 units. The US aerospace sector is one of the largest worldwide in terms of infrastructure and manufacturing activities. In the past half-decade, some 1,000 helicopters have been delivered in the US, as per Modor Intelligence.
