RE:TimebuilderBanshee, Lots to comment on here, To beat the TAX man you must beat the Market IMO...we did own TBE & got caught in the down draft before our completed sell off ..a situation that we cannot write off ;>( but NOT any PSN thank the man above. My wife's accounts ( CASH/TFSA/RRIF) are all managered by me but with her input after conversations & are mostly low risk in most cases & included in my sales pitch to her. Our BIGGEST winner together was a long term flyer = The Score Sold out with HIGH net returns by both..;>) mine in TFSA Re: MFC.T have been a long term investor & lived thru the ups & downs & still hold.
Both the wife & I were taught at a very very young age by both our parents " that if you manage your pennies the dollars will manage themselves " work hard & you will be paid for your efforts.....very frugal input but all concerned... Cleaning up our non productive holdings was not a concern back then now more so. must be done but not a top priority at this stage in investing.
Firewood we had our little single floor ( few stairs ) bunglaow custom built in 1984 & had a woodstove with dual fans put in the corner of the basement & a dual fan heatalater put in the tv/living room upstairs. Back then wood was cheap & accessable ( father inlaw had a family cottage & property). Stopped using the stove a few years back as our heat source passed on and local firewood got very expensive & NGas was now cheaper. to heat this 1100sf house IMO
Beating the TAX man still means beating the Market & other money managers. Still Enjoying the Game....
TOO much of a ramble on ..
Must go.
