Any way we look at it...

Any way we look at it...
Huge amounts of wind power will be required in the near future. BC Hydro says they will have to import power to back up wind.

By comparison the first power call will be small. How many land based turbines dotting the land will there be? Cost into the many billions.

A 35-40% capacity factor doesn't help, vs 60%+ capacity for offshore.

Section 4, says it all. Massive amounts of wind power will be required. Whether the move to wind power will allow BC Hydro to maintain an affordable and reliable power system remains an open question.

Offshore wind will be cheaper and more efficient by comparison. Running 20MW-22MW turbines. 97% of the time with a high capacity factor.

Given that not all First Nations have access to windy locations for land based turbines, maybe have an idea of participating in a large offshore project.
