RE:RE:RE:good dayHi Nicoska,
Wiki states the six platinum-group metals are ruthenium, rhodium, palladium, osmium, iridium, and platinum. They have similar physical and chemical properties, and tend to occur together in the same mineral deposits. They can be further subdivided into the iridium-group platinum-group elements (IPGEs: Os, Ir, Ru) and the palladium-group platinum-group elements (PPGEs: Rh, Pt, Pd)
Todays world spot pricing on Kitco for the bottom 3 metals: Rhodium:CDN $6,864 or US$ 5,050 per Oz.
Platinum: CDN $1309.98 or US$ 964 per Oz.
Palladium CDN $1303 or US $ 959 per Oz.
Significant uses of selected PGMs,
Palladium: autocatalysts, electronics, dental,chemical reagents
Platinum: jewelry autocatalysts
Rhodium: autocatalysts
Example: Platinum used in automobile catalytic converter 2 to 7 grams, but up to 20 to 60 grams is used as the catalyst in each hydrogen fuel cell. Palladium is also a key component to fuel cells but has a lower melting point
New age metals is ready to cover both demands for lithium (Bevs) and PGMs for the fuel cell crowd, that may get bigger as once again Elon Musk oversteps the short sighted Big 3 North American auto makers and pioneers a 'Quality" North American made Hydogen Fuel cell car (and trucks) in 2025. Cheers!
