RE:Placer Gold in West Deer Cove Valley

RE:Placer Gold in West Deer Cove ValleyMore information on placer gold..it is mineable if a mill exists..

From 1985 to 1988 Noranda completed a 38 sample regional till survey (results of which are on Figure 4) and two detailed till surveys by Mike Milner in which a significant gold in till anomaly was outlined in the area of Deer Cove Pond and Normans Pond.

Most of the observations in these surveys “point to a glacial (?)-fluvial source very locally derived from gold eroded along and immediately adjacent to the Deer Cove thrust fault and highly carbonitized ultramafics cut by numerous gold-bearing quartz stockworks and narrow high grade veins

...”.”If this is correct a significant length of the Deer Cove thrust could be significantly gold bearing...” (Dearin, 2003).

From Milner’s results the potential for “placer” style deposits can be estimated, however Gower (1987, page 30) states “although the Deer Cove Valley may not be amenable to a gold placer type operation on its own, the quantity of gold in tills would merit its recovery by either conventional milling or leaching if a gold mill was operational in the area.”
