HPQ Silicon Inc V.HPQ

Alternate Symbol(s):  HPQFF

HPQ Silicon Inc. (HPQ) is a Canada-based technology company specializing in green engineering of silica and silicon-based materials. The Company is engaged in developing, with the support of technology partners PyroGenesis Canada Inc. (PyroGenesis) and Novacium SAS, new green processes to make the critical materials needed to reach net zero emissions. Its activities are centered around the three pillars: becoming a green low-cost (Capex and Opex) manufacturer of Fumed Silica using the Fumed Silica Reactor, a proprietary technology owned by HPQ being developed for HPQ by PyroGenesis; becoming a producer of silicon-based anode materials for battery applications with the assistance of Novacium SAS, and Novacium SAS is engaged in developing a low carbon, chemical base on demand and high-pressure autonomous hydrogen production system. The Company operates in a single operating segment, segment, being the sector of the transformation of quartz into silicon materials and derivative products.

RE:Chart

RE:ChartSome great posts from ceo on HPQ/PYR's Fumed Silica Reactor (FSR):

@ordos From the NR on the LOI: The objective of the LOI is for HSPI to collaborate with Evonik during the pilot scale phase to validate the ability of the FSR to produce low-cost low carbon material acceptable to Evonik’s specifications. This will be a scaling up of the process from HSPI’s first-generation samples which have already proven to satisfy the Evonik specifications. “Regarding the collaboration on testing fumed silica material, HSPI can leverage the more than 80 years of experience in manufacturing and selling fumed silica materials that Evonik has and represents an incredible opportunity for HSPI as we work diligently to optimize our Fumed Silica Reactor " added Mr. Tourillon.

@ordos This is not to just an intention to send samples, they sent samples before many times, they didn't need any LOIs for that. This LOI is a precursor to offtake agreement and collaboration on commercial plant development. There is much more to this, I am sure. As Bernard said: "Evonik is a gift that will keep on giving".

@ordos A few key points, including those Bernard repeated again in the latest interview:

1. HPQ Silicon got Evonik to publicly declare their interest and sign LOI. No company of this size and reputation goes for the publicity if they weren't excited and certain this is going to succeed
2. Bernard repeated again that they are very confident in FSR pilot plant success
3. Bernard repeated again, what he has been saying for a long time consistently, that the key fumed silica players are going to come to them themselves and they did via all those NDAs. That one of them is going to move first, because that's just logical, given the prospects, and that's what happened yesterday. Not just one of them, but the biggest one in the fumed silica market
4. FSR technology opens up additional markets for fumed silica due to a much lower entry barrier. This means that the fumed silica market CAGR of 5% can be significantly higher with this technology getting introduced into the market
5. With Evonik's name on the table, HPQ Silicon and Pyrogenesis are going to get much more attention and digging from bigger entities. That attention is not just going to be limited to fumed silica
6. With Evonik's scale, influence, and expertise there will be more opportunities beyond fumed silica. For example, Evonik also produces silicon carbon materials for lithium-ion batteries (!), there can be collaboration on this with HPQ Silicon & Novacium too. Potential for SiOx is much bigger than fumed silica
7. Bernard developed very good relationship with key people at Evonik and they have been keeping in touch since 2017 (!)

Yesterday was a huge milestone, the significance cannot be understated.

@Embers The beauty of the LOI with Evonik, is they have the financial clout to scale this any way they see fit. How aggressively do they want to squeeze the other fumed silica players. If 50 ton FSR can produce good consistent material, 2025 could be a fun ride
