Deer Cove Placer gold..Excellent Grades Deer Cove Valley Placer Gold Resources-Order of Magnitude Values
During a follow up overburden trenching program in bogs immediately north of Norman’s Pond and SW of Deer Cove Pond (Map 8) it was determined that the best gold values in tills were confined to the most recessive bedrock features where outcrop could not be exposed due to overburden thickness.
From these eight trenches 64 HMC from tills were assayed for gold along with 129 one-metre rock chip samples.
An average of all 64 till-HMC’s is 0.54 g Au/t;
the average of all samples >0.10 g Au/t (i.e. 39 of 64 samples or 61% of the samples) is 0.87 g Au/t.
These gold values would equate into placer-till values of approximately 1.1 g Au/m3 to 1.7 g Au/m3, which in placer values are excellent grades.
My Comments
It seems obvious to me that the source of gold in the Deer Cove Talc deposit is from gold in till...ie placer gold.
If the gold grades of that placer gold at Deer Cove are the same in the Deer Cove talc deposit as reported above, the Deer Cove talc deposit......17 million tons just within the top 20 meters of the Talc deposit..contains a substantial by product of gold
I am not aware via research that any talc deposit in the world contains gold as a byproduct credit.
With POG now hovering around $2500 US per ounce, almost any source of gold can be profitably mined especially at the surface and even more so as part of an easily mined surface Talc deposit .
I am sure that Dundee will examine the economic potential of every mineral asset that Maritime has and if economic , proceed to mine that asset.
We are entering exciting times for Maritime..
