Toronto, September 13, 2024 -- Moody's Ratings (Moody's) says Air Canada is currently dealing with a possible pilots' strike that could have financial implications for the airline. The company and the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), which represents over 5,000 pilots, are primarily negotiating over wage issues. Although the strike will negatively impact Air Canada's credit, the company's strong financial leverage and excellent liquidity (over $9 billion) will mitigate any negative pressure on the rating.
Air Canada is the largest provider of scheduled airline passenger services within, and to and from Canada. The company is headquartered in Saint-Laurent, Quebec, Canada.
