Hi westcoastlogger, you might be wrong this time as that nut job heard the former president say he could end the Russian war on Ukraine even before becoming president! What Trump indicated he would do is as soon as it was shown in election results that he had won would be to declare at that point in time both Ukraine and Russia will halt all hostile activity and a buffer zone be implemented. That attempted assassination of Trump saw what Trumps words meant and that is he would allow Russia to annexe all territory it is occupying, so my assumption is it wasn't the Democrats that caused that nut job to try to kill Trump but because Trump didn't say he would convince Russia to retreat 100% out of Ukraine. Former President Trump has to choose his words more carefully to avoid any interpretation either right or wrong.
