As you know, they were most probably working on the next Gen while testing one.
They were not going to show bad results while better one are not available yet.
They change from Gen1 to Gen2 after 125 cycles and Gen2 to Gen3 after 150 cycles.
Battery testing equipment aquisition sped up the process.
Gen 3 was qualified as partially optimized from the beginning.
