Re. Opinion The South American oil business of Gran Tierra is still the better (albiet, corrupt governments, payouts occasional disruptions, etc., but they have been there so, so many years and prepared, I’m sure) as the oil sold to international Brent markets. Through the years they have been slowly increasing their reserves and exploring more and more fields.
Canadian oil business of i3 Energy offers only one client, the USA that buy it at WTI, even at a discount. Furthermore, Canadian oil business is not looked favorably and supported by the current Canadian federal government as well as the current US federal government. In fact even the indigenous people protest and prevent any pipeline going to the west coast and Quebec government prevent any pipeline going to the east coast for other international markets. So the i3 Energy acquisition in my opinion was paid at a premium and a waste of money, debt, etc!
