Everything You Need to Know About VMS Deposits Everything You Need to Know About VMS Deposits and Why They Are Rich Sources of Essential Metals: https://www.visualcapitalist.com/everything-you-need-to-know-on-vms-deposits/?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_content=ap_dmfzqsqxrs
Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide (VMS) deposits are rich sources of essential metals like copper, zinc, and lead, as well as byproducts such as gold and silver. These deposits, formed by natural volcanic processes on the ocean floor over millions of years, account for a significant portion of global metal production—22% of zinc, 9.7% of lead, and 6% of copper, among others.
VMS deposits are often found along tectonic plate boundaries and are created through the interaction of magma and super-heated seawater. These deposits, once formed underwater, can later be discovered on land due to tectonic shifts. Notable VMS deposits are found in Canada’s Flin Flon, Bathurst, and Noranda camps, as well as the Iberian Pyrite Belt in Portugal and Spain, where some deposits exceed 100 million tonnes.
High-Grade Copper and Gold Found at North American Deposit
Last week, American Pacific Mining (USGD.c USGDF) reinforced the high mineralization potential of its Montana VMS Deposit, reporting high-grade copper and gold results from its Madison Project!
With highlights including 45.50% copper and 2.17 g/t gold, and 31.00% copper and 8.40 g/t gold, recent underground samples were taken from old mine workings using a channel sampling method for accuracy.
USGD CEO, Warwick Smith, noted that
Given these high copper values confirm the rich mineralization at Madison, USGD's ongoing regional sampling and structural mapping efforts are on track to refine future drilling and exploration efforts with A comprehensive geological program is underway and an updated 3D model and Phase II exploration plan expected in Q4 2024.
