Post about LPs :
-Sales of legal adult use in 2023 reached an all time high of 5.2B $ CAD. Back in 2018 when it was made legal on October 17th, sales only totaled 153M $ Cad (Google search it)
- Tuesday October 1st 2024 the Canadian Cannabis Leadership Summit was hosted by the Cannabis Council of Canada.
- Kendal Weber attented the event. She's the Assistant Deputy Minister of the Controlled Substances and Cannabis Branch at Health Canada.
- The Cannabis Council of Canada reported that LP's pay on average 34% excise taxes and even as high as 45% for some producers. The Cannabis Council of Canada is calling for a fixed 10% rate of the LP's selling price. The Canadian House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance and several provinces support this recommendation. ( Excise Duty button on the link of #6)
- Each province has a unique stamp design. Provincial-Specific stamp limit product reallocation, restricting supply chain flexibility. This excise stamp originally designed for tobbaco is not suitable for cannabis and LP's spend around 100M$ CAD annually on stamps. The Cannabis Council of Canada advocates a unique national excise stamp.(Excise Stamp button on the link of #6)
