Will the CRTC (government) take over? Government has proven that it cannot do anything economically! In short order they will be begging the big telecom companies to do something about the problem they created. Unfortunately it will take time to resolve.

You got that right. lol . In 30 years living on crescent endless emergency services calls are happening. Every time there they do a little construction like changing a small section of concrete, replacing grass etc cables are being busted. Multiple crews coming the first one pulling the cables over the trees ( like in third world countries) before someone digs them in the ground months later before they get cut again. Tons of  old cables laying in the ground  . This circus is costing telecommunications companies millions and those expenses are being passed to consumers . Well who cares the government was always talking care about those big pigs like Bell & Rogers and now Trudeau's  "revenge" attitude government is trying to slaughter them for laying hundreds of people off.
