This and That

This and ThatAs I mentioned in previous posts, unlike previous elections where people have said that that election is the most consequential in US history, I bvelieve that this time around it really is since it is really a fuight between marxism and captialism.  The economic.investment implications of this are significant IMO.

With that in mind, I have been keeping close tabs on what is going in the US and as part of that I tapped into my network of contacts to pick their brains to see what is going on especially behind the scenes.

Here is thumbnail of some of these conversations.

THAAD missile defence system...

Biden agreed to send one of these batteries to Israel and addition will send US military personnel (about a 100) along with the system to help run the system.  In talking to my US General friend, the US has only seven of these systems and so giving one to Israel is a big deal especially when the package puts US military personnel in harms way to help operate the system.  The THAAD along with other capabiltieis can detect launches as far away as Iran and has long range kiiling capacity so it can down incoming missles launched from Iran long before they come close to Israeli airspace.

Now....what is interesting he told me is that Biden did not do this out of the goodness of his heart but that the agreement comes with stipulations.  What are they?  Well Israel will not attack Iranian oil or nuclear sites which a key element of Biden's approach to the conflict.

Clearly, this has big implications for the recent increase in the price of oil if it for intents and purposes eliminates (at least for the foreseable future) the the threat of the war having a direct impact on the oil market.  Up to you what you decide to about this.

Harris Campaign

My friends who are connected to the Democratic Party say that the "grownups" are concerned that the campaign has stalled and Trump is gaining momentum.  There is clearly in-fighting going on and they poiunted to the issue of Harris trying to use Hurricane Milton to condem Desantis while Biden says that they are getting along and Desantis is doing a great job abd at the same time Desantis is saying that Florida is getting everything need from Biden.  So what is Harris going to do?  She is taking the unprecedented step of agreeing to be interviewed on Fox News by Bret Baier.  High stakes gamble IMO.
