RE:New Investment Avian Flu - Again

RE:New Investment Avian Flu - AgainUpdate in US. Human and animal avian flu

Per the CDC as of the Octy 15th, there are 11 total human cases among dairy farm workers in CA.
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) data shows California’s total dairy herds effected, bringing the state’s total to 105.

The CA Dept of Public Health is concerned that the Avian flu and oncoming seasonal flu may combine and create a more virulant virus
.
https://www.politico.com/news/2024/10/17/avian-flu-california-pandemic-threat-00184027

In 2009 the swine, avian and human flu genes combined and generated 60M known cases with +12,000 people dying.

US Poultry processing approximately 21M tons and for the current week is 162M head.
US Cattle processing approximately 11.9M tons annually. Brazil and India beef herds are larger.
US Swine processing 12M tons annually. China has approx. 50M tons and EU 20M tons.

The swine population is considered the most at risk b/c they can contract both human and avian and have the potential to combine the two. (Google Generative AI research). Also may act as an intermediate host.

Avian flu virus in poultry populations is fatal, with compete uthanization required. Cattle/
Dairy herd mortality is less than 2%. Dairy products are not removed from consumption b/c of pasturization - that kills viruses. Swine is given anitbiotics to prevent bacterial infection.

It would appear that this more serious than many may realize, not only the
adverse effects to the foodchain (confirmed infected chickens must be destroyed) but the healthcare systems. And the cost to the ecomonmy in lost productivity. And the cost for testing of both human and bird flu and the subsequent loss of human life.

Why not invest and to research/create a multi-application vaccine and prevent the possible highly-contagious virus combinations now???

THIS IS WHAT GOVERNMENTS ARE FOR, to protect the citizenry.

GLTA. Regards, BK
