Inheriting Land with Unpaid Taxes, What Should I Do?

Inheriting Land with Unpaid Taxes, What Should I Do?
I recently inherited 7,000 acres of land from my dad, but there’s a complication. My uncle, who was supposed to manage the property, hasn’t paid the property taxes for the past seven years. Now, I’m trying to figure out whether I’m responsible for covering those seven years of unpaid taxes before I can officially inherit and take control of the property.

I’ve been reading through some financial advice blogs on CanGuard, and I saw that they offer tax resolution services specifically designed to help with unpaid taxes and property issues. This could be useful for anyone facing similar challenges. However, I’m still uncertain about how this affects inheritance and whether I need to settle all back taxes before taking over the land.

Has anyone dealt with a similar situation or has knowledge about how unpaid property taxes can impact inheritance in Canada? I’d appreciate any insights!

Thanks in advance for your help!
