Thanks for entering into the fray ... and defending my rep ... lol! ... even though the discrepancy in understanding is clear to any and all readers!

Re your worked ACB example: Fantastically clear and straight-forward! If someone cannot grasp what is being handed to them on a platter after all of this ... well then ... just recall the old saying ... "you can't teach some people"!

Re TRP: the stock has amazed me ... shooting upward on an almost daily basis since 01 Oct. ... well don't look today ... but it did hit a 52-week high earlier in the day! Looking forward to many good things to come and especially some juicy annual dividend increases on an annual basis!

Re SOBO: ended up with 4,949 shares at an average ACB of $28.51 and a yield on cost of 9.7%. While not anticipating any dividend increases in the years ahead (nor cuts) ... getting paid 9.7% to wait for an eventual buy out by a US company ain't too shabby!
