Opps Canada 4.4 million , Total imports 7.1 MM This would translate into a big price increase at the pump. I dont think there are any producers would cut their selling price by 50% to absorb that tariff.
July 2024 Import Highlights
Monthly data on the origins of crude oil imports in July 2024 show that one country, Canada, exported more than one million barrels per day to the United States (see table below). The top five exporting countries accounted for 79% of United States crude oil imports in July while the top ten sources accounted for approximately 94% of all U.S. crude oil imports. The top five sources of U.S. crude oil imports for July were Canada (4.4 million b/d), Mexico (413,000 b/d), Venezuela (308,000 b/d), Saudi Arabia (280,000 b/d), and Guyana (258,000 b/d). The remaining top ten sources, in order, were Brazil (254,000 b/d), Colombia (209,000 b/d), Nigeria (207,000 b/d), Iraq (202,000 b/d), and Ecuador (169,000 b/d). Total crude oil imports averaged 7.1 million b/d in July, which was an increase of 459,000 b/d from imports during June 2024.
