Experienced wrote "... .I made my first investment in 1969 and ..."

I may be a bit older and my first "investment" was made in November 1968, soon after getting married. I still rememebr writing on the ironing board "Consolidated Morrisson". I had paid about $2.25 for a few hundred shares.

Not a great investment but... two years later, we had moved from Montreal to Toronto and I traded to Consolidated Faraday. Back in those days shares were purchased through the bank and actual share certificates were issued and delivered to shareholders.

That share certificate for 300 Consolidated Faraday was put away and forgotten. Honest, just forgotten. Life took over... baby... new house... new job... another baby... bigger house... a third baby... buy new business... move to new town... sell business... buy new house in new town... etc....

Almost 30 years later i found the share certificate after having moved... yet again... to Belleville at that point.  It was sent to the transfer agent to trace its history.  Consolidated Faraday had changed its name to Faraday Resources... been purchased by Conwest... who was purchased by ... who was purchased by Alberta Energy... changed its name to Encana... later split its assets between Encana and Cenevus.  Thr trust company eventually sent me a cheque for over $2,700 for accumulated dividends and new shares in both Encana and Cenovus.

So yes, it was a great investment.... by pure luck.
