My understanding is that they are using the RNG from a specific landfill to power the their fleet of trucks that service that landfill and they have localized electricity generation using the RNG to power turbines to provide electricity to the community around the landfill. Excess RNG is pipelined through existing pipeline systems. Some landfills are using ENB to transport the RNG.
With relatively little capital cost WM is estimated to improve their cashflow by 50% over the next three years at basically zero risk since they are essentially their own customer. As I mentioned before, others are doing the same in North America and Europe. In the case of Europe with NG being much more expensive, the math for their waste management companies is even greater. This whole area will become a huge business as time goes on.
