Whether we understood it at the time we bought in or not - this is exactly what we signed up for when we bought into a public company specifically to benefit from it being sold.
It's completely frustrating - I know - until you accept it. Once you do it's pretty simple - take your best guess at a buyout price - discount it for time and likelihood of success - compare that expected return to your other options and make your call.
My math on this tells me to continue holding.
