The environment is getting a bit dour
The environment is getting a bit dourSo I posted a couple or so weeks before the election that if there was a Trump sweep that we could face a real reckoning. I also suggested there would be a real chance we revisited prior lows. I further suggested one should have one's finger firmly on the trigger should this happen. To be fair I did give VERY serious consideration to a significant trim but in the end opted out. Not entirely sure I made the correct call from a traders perspective but likely still ok from an investors perspective, haa did I just give myself a pass?? Easy to justify afterwards I guess.
In any event I did not participate in the dip the other day nor this last drop but may start nibbling here again soon. It's not so much a rate call anymore versus just a real negative sentiment Trump throws off. Interesting headline sums it up nicely "Trump sees no allies only adversaries" talk about a walking conflict, amongst other things. Trump lovers will soon enough turn when the real pain hits.
As for Canada, there is rightfully so, some real chatter and concern of significant impact on our already stymied economic performance. Strictly from a Reit perspective this can only amplify the call for further rate cuts. Irregardless of what TJ portends about CAD reits only cueing off U.S. which is true to an extent, there will come a time when CAD reits should start to decouple from that, if not the entire sector then most definitely on an individual basis. I think we still get several cuts upcoming in Canada and given the dark clouds cast now by Trump I wouldn't dismiss another 50 bipp cut upcoming. That being the case, we move higher from here and I think that level becomes floor going forward. Therefore, I will start to add on weakness here and see where we go.
Finger just got a centimeter shorter, sorry.
