Actually I was. In those days one needed pernission from the Quebec department of education to get to UM - HEC at 15 (I turned 16 in November that year). It was a challenging experience being surroundered by older teenagers and young adults (back in the mid 50's my teachers made me skip grade 6 - I went from 5 to 7, causing me to eventually graduate high school at an early age)..

Back in the early 60's the Quebec government experimented with fast tracking high school to graduate after grade 11. They went back to 12 a few years later.

While most books at HEC were available in French or bilingually (Civil Code for example), accounting books were only available in English at that time (things did change of course).
