TONNE, RESERVE, CONTENT, GRADE, PURITY

TONNE, RESERVE, CONTENT, GRADE, PURITY1966 - BAYMAG
1966 and diamond core drilling in the early 1970s proved reserves in excess of
50 million tonnes of high-quality magnesite ore.
https://www.baymag.com/about/

That's ------> Magnesite  ORE  ( not extracted mineral )

1990 - BAYMAG
17.6 million tonnes averaging 92.44 per cent magnesia in the calcined product
(Fieldwork, 1990).

Tonnage switches to Magnesia
Magnesia Formula
Mg(OH)2

1 extra  O    2 extra  hydrogen     vs    MgO

Hydrogen weight = 1.007 u
Oxygen weight = 15.999 u

Mg weight = 24.305 u
MgO weight = 40.304 u
Magnesia = 58.317 u

So....
1966 - 50 million tonnes ore
1990 - 17.6 million tonnes magnesia ( added weight )
Current webiste - deposit contains magnesite reserves in excess of 50 million tonnes.
^  ^  ^
There's a diff between raw ore and reserves, right ?

Did extra drilling prove positive ?
Or.... drilling wasn't so good ?
Hard to find info on this subject.

Can Baymag mine all ore ?
Or.... are they inhibited by scaling benches further up mountain or... river nearby ?
Or.... have mined high grade magnesite zones and are into.... dolomites ?

Current tonnage mined per year ------> 150,000 tonnes using 3 calciners
1990 to 2024 = 30 yrs of mining

Just how much tonnage raw  or  reserve  or  magnesia reserve is remaining ?
Why post on website 1966 50 million tonnes  ore ?  ( history yes... but ? )
Why not use current figures ?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

92.44 per cent magnesia in the calcined product (Fieldwork, 1990).
vs
MgO contents of more than 97 %.

Contents.....  it a grade after calcing ?
Or.... should it be a purity value after ( LOI ) calcing ?

If Baymags deposit is Magnesite = MgCO3
Their..... magnesite has the carbon and one oxygen loss during calcining.
Perhaps more of a purity figure  vs  grade.
An opinion.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Big Questions ?
Why has Driftwood seen resistence ?
Why has West High Yield seen resistence ?

Did you know MGX Driftwood is the East zone ?
MGX also drilled west zone..... not much info on this drill stepout extension )  hmmm
Source Driftwood  43 101

West drilled extension is like a sneak peek -----> knowing how much more deposit extends.

Cheers.....
